This online program combines lectures and interactive seminars to provide an introduction to pandemic preparation and management. In this program, you will review the major approaches to planning for, assessing and managing pandemic events. We start with discussions on the importance of understanding and describing the threat of emerging infections, before progressing to skills needed to investigate and respond to pandemics. Using current cases and examples, the module will cover a range of topics related to infectious diseases that pose a threat to global health. These concepts will also be explored in relation to major driving forces behind the ongoing threat of pandemics.

- Knowledge – Key areas will include understanding the principles of pandemic investigation and management within a public health context, including the spread of globally important pathogens, how to identify and track high-risk infectious diseases, and how to implement strategies to control or prevent pandemic events.
